Ice Packs To Relieve The Pain

How To Find Good Fibromyalgia Doctors

If you suffer from fibromyalgia (FM) but feel that your current doctor does not have sufficient knowledge of your condition and is uncompassionate, it’s time to find a fibromyalgia specialist.

Unfortunately, finding a doctor who specializes in treating fibromyalgia can be simpler said then done. The reason is because many health care providers find fibromyalgia hard to diagnose. This is exceptionally right for doctors who are unaware that the condition exists.

The first aspect you need to know is that the term fibromyalgia specialists is not the medical title of the specialists you are looking for. The doctors who are often the best choice for treating and diagnosing fibromyalgia are:

• Rheumatologists (pronounced “room-a-tall-uh-jist”) – A physician who specializes in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal disorders, such as arthritis.

• Physiatrists (pronounced “fizz-ee-at-trist”) – A physician who specializes in rehabilitation and physical medicine.

• Internists – A physician who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of internal organs in the body, but also provides primary care for others.

• Anaesthesiologists (pronounced “an-us-thee-ze-all-uh-jist”) – A physician who specializes in administering drugs such as anaesthetic typically before, during, and after surgery. They may also be a specialist who is consulted in nerve block treatment for arthritis pain.

• Neurologists – A physician who specializes in diagnosis and treating nervous system disorders.

• Other pain specialists

Although the above medical specialists may be ideal fibromyalgia doctors, don’t expect this of every doctor you meet. For instance, not all rheumatologists will specialize in diagnosing and treating fibromyalgia. Therefore, although you know the types of doctors who are most likely to help you with your condition, often the best way to locate a fibromyalgia specialist is through the help of others.

The following are the best methods you can use for your search in locating a fibromyalgia specialists -

• Support group – get in touch with a fibromyalgia support group either locally or online and find out what doctors the other members see. You should also find out the ones they’ve seen in the past and disliked to find out why you should avoid these doctors. To find a support group visit the National Fibromyalgia Association website at http://fmaware.org

• Other resources – It’s not a terrible thought to talk with people who suffer from other immune deficiency disorders such as those with rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, chronic fatigue syndrome, etc., and find out what physicians they see.

•Find fibromyalgia friendly doctors online – you can conduct your own local search by using your city and “fibromyalgia specialist” or “fibromyalgia doctor” as the keywords. Another fantastic place to look for FM doctors is at the National Fibromyalgia Association website and WebMd at http://my.webmd.com

• Check out the legitimacy of the doctor – Once you have a name of a few doctors you are interested in, you need to ensure that this individual is a qualified and reputable medical practitioner. You should never be treated by an unlicensed doctor. The following are ways to determine the legitimacy of the doctor:

o Check to see if he/she is part of the American Medical Association by conducting a search at http://ama-assn.org

o Check to see if the doctor is “board certified” by visiting http://certifieddoctor.org

o Check to see if the doctor has been disciplined for an offence by visiting Medi-Net at http://askmedi.com

• Contact your insurance company – make sure you find out what physicians will accept your insurance plot.

• Make a list of vital questions – Before you meet with a physician be sure to have a list of questions you want to question such as how many fibromyalgia patients he/she treats, and their feelings regarding specific treatments, etc.

Continue your search until you find the fibromyalgia specialist you are comfortable with and have confidence in. Remember, it’s up to you to find the right specialist for you.

How Can I Find A Good Chronic Pain Doctor Who Will Keep Prescribing Me My Medicines That I Am On.?

Hi, How can I find a excellent chronic pain Doctor who will keep prescribing me my medicines that I am on. My doctor is leaving after 8 years and I am on a “excellent, working medication schedule” after many years of trying other things. We have found what works but now I need to find a new doctor who will prescribe me the same medications (narcotics & anxiety medications) within 30 days. I didnt get much notice so I need to go quick. I despise to go and see “20″ (so to say) doctors for them to tell me that they cant prescribe them to me.
I live in Wisconsin & most doctors seem to be frightened to prescribe narcotics even though I have been on them for years.
Shopping for a new doctor seems impossible in less then 30 days. How do I find a excellent one who will help me and keep me on the regimine that I have been on for 6 years?
Thank you.
I know I can go to a pain clinic for my pain but for my anxiety the way I am understanding it, I would have to find another doctor. I am used to just one. Thanks

Pain – Find the Cause, Don’t Just Treat the Pain

Did you know that over 75 million people in the USA alone have some sore of chronic pain and reoccurring pain. Pain is one of the major causes of employees missing work and disability. This is according to research from the Journal of General Internal Medicine published in their issue for June 2008. Believe it or not, no one has been able to figure out the best way to relieve pain. But, there are a few products that are well know for relieving pain, Here is a brief product profile for some over the counter gel products taken from www. gnrcatalog. com, a health professional product site. IBUNEX & GLUCONEX – TOPICAL IBUPROFEN AND GLUCOSAMINEIbunex and Gluconex creams deliver the benefits of Ibuprofen & Glucosamine without the negative side effects associated with taking oral pain relievers. BIOFREEZE®The natural ILEX base allows BIOFREEZE® to be absorbed quickly for quick, deep penetrating pain relief. SOMBRA NATURAL PAIN RELIEVING GELSFast-acting gel start to work immediately when massaged onto affected areas, a light, refreshing citrus scent of orange peel extract. ROLL AWAY THE PAINFor the temporary relief of minor aches and pains of muscles and joints associated with arthritis, simple backache, spasms and strains. Contains Methyl Salicylate, Menthol, Lidocaine and HCI. I really despise to see people in pain. Please keep in mind, that I am not a physician or have any experience in pain, pain management or physical therapy. I just reckon, that instead of just treating the pain area, that some more effort should go into locating the real source of the pain. This just seems to me to be an efficient way of locating the cause of the pain. a) Find out where the pain is really coming from by determining if the pain is caused by the area where the pain is located or if it is caused by the nervous system. b) If the pain is coming from the pain area, find out which activities are causing the most pain by having your patient list every activity that causes their pain and next to each activity place a number next to the activity that would rate the extent of the pain. c) Make a Rating list for the physician and the client. So both can refer to them as they do that activity and as treatment is provided to see if the rating has improved or not. d) Re rate the pain after the number of visits that the physician determines improvement should be noted. I realize that this doesn’t stop the pain but finding the cause instead of just treating the pain maybe a step in the right direction. In the meantime the gels listed above and more can be bought from the GNRCatalog. com site by health care professionals or for the end user you can go to SelfCareCentral. com.
