Natural Pain Relief Therapies For Women And Men

In as much as humans dreaded to feel and experience pain that is brought by various factors such as health complications and diseases, pain is perhaps one of the inevitable things that anyone will eventually encounter at some point in their lives. But, pain is classified as either chronic or acute and according to its duration. This proves that the intensity and nature of pain differs from one condition to another.

Acute or chronic pain is commonly attributed in either one of the following factors:

1. Sex
2. Trauma
3. Age
4. Sleep
5. Smoking
6. Emotional condition
7. Muscularity
8. Weather

With today’s modern medicine, it is rather simpler to handle or manage pain. Doctors recommend the use of various pain reliever medications and therapies that can effectively alleviate, cure, and even prevent pain. But, it is not necessary to take loads of pain relief drugs when cases of pain are only considered as acute. There are, in fact, a couple of natural pain relief therapies that are known to be effective in alleviating pain.

Natural pain relief management

Many people opted to use alternative and complementary remedies to a number of health conditions and cases, including pain. Some use such natural treatments along with the therapies and medications prescribed by doctors to achieve better results.

The following are the five natural pain relief therapies that are quite well loved today:

1. Tai chi

Tai chi is an ancient Chinese Taoist martial art that is commonly referred to as meditation in motion. This therapy is known to effectively harmonize a person’s posture, balance, gaits, and flexibility. Hence, tai chi prevents and alleviates pain as it harmonizes the physical and mental well-being of an individual.

2. Yoga

Yoga is a well loved Indian exercise that combines breathing and stretching. This type of therapy is a top choice of some people as treatment to a number of psychological and physical illnesses. In adhering to yoga therapy as treatment to pain, intake of prescribed drugs or medications is more likely to decrease as yoga  aids to relax the body muscles, thus, reducing tension that is typically associated to pain.

3. Magnets

In magneto therapy, magnets are applied to the skin with the aim of lessening body pains. Although there are no studies that can further assess and verify the effectivity of magnets as a body pain reliever, many people still resort to this type of therapy as an alternative to drugs and medications.

4. Diet and nutrition

To avoid being susceptible to pain, doctors recommend proper diet maintenance. Fruits and vegetables in balanced quantities are a must in a person’s daily diet as these are excellent sources of vitamins, minerals, energy, and protein.

5. Nutritional herbs and supplements

Nutritional herbs and supplements are taken by some people as alternative to pain reliever drugs and medications. Most of these supplements are really quite effective in reducing and curing pain. Examples of effective nutritional and herbal ingredients are salmon oil, black cohosh, cranberry, saw palmetto, and valerian.

The Affects of Rheumatoid Arthritis on Back Pain

Rheumatoid arthritis causes back pain to occur. The disease is a systemic disease that causes inflammation, which targets the synovial joint liners. This is where back pain starts. Rheumatoid arthritis may link to genetic transmissions or autoimmune illnesses according to etiology aspects. Physically speaking Rheumatoid arthritis inflames the synovial membranes, which often affects the pannus. This action causes destruction in the ligaments, bones, and the cartilages. Once the pannus is hit, fibrotic tissues start to replace the pannus. Calcification also replaces the pannus, which results in joint subluxation conditions. Calcification is abnormal hardening, which causes swelling and joint stiffness.

Symptoms;
Once potential Rheumatoid arthritis is detected the doctor considers the symptoms before moving to diagnostics. The patient may experience anorexia (Eating disorder), malaise, fatigue, limited range of motion (ROM), subcutaneous nodules, pain and swollen joints, and rises in body temperature. The joints may also demonstrate mirrored images, which is noted when the symmetrical joints swell. Stiffness in the waking hours often occurs as well, which is followed by “paresthesia of the” feet and hands. Patients also demonstrate signs of crepitus, inflamed lymph nodes, pericarditis, leukopenia, and splenomegaly.

Pericarditis causes swelling. As you can see with so much swelling, the pain will spread out reaching the back. Rheumatoid arthritis itself causes stiffness of the muscles and joints, which makes immeasurable pain. Most times the problem occurs from injury and/or infections.

How doctors learn Rheumatoid arthritis?
Doctors conduct tests, including x-rays, latex fixation, gamma globulin, synovial fluid analysis, and hematology tests. If the tests show positive results, such as spacing between narrow joints, erosion of bones, platelet, WBC, ESR increases, IgM and IgG increases, decrease of opaque and viscosity, and rheumatoid, thus a diagnostic is set.

Once the diagnostics are concluded management, interventions, stress reduction, etc are incorporated to treat the patient.

Management often leads to heat/cold therapy, gold therapy, etc. Gold therapy is used to intervene with infections reaching the inner central of the muscle layers, thus averting them from reaching the wall of the heart. The joints are often extended when and kept in form. Skin care, emotional care, etc are also prescribed.

How to reduce pain:
You will find helpful information at the Foundation of Arthritis. In the meantime, doctors often prescribe stress-reduction strategies. As well, the patient is advised to avoid stress, infections, colds, and remedies that have no concrete discoveries that help Rheumatoid arthritis.

Environmental stress should also be reduced to slow swelling, redness, and pain. Doctors prescribed range of motion exercises, warm compressors, heat therapy, etc to treat Rheumatoid arthritis. Try a few stretch exercises and stay clear of people who elevate your emotions.

It is vital when you are diagnosed with any disorder, including Rheumatoid arthritis that you seek emotional and mental support. Express your feelings, otherwise suppression will only increase your symptoms, as well as pain. In addition, you want to learn to live in a cool environment, as well as provide comprehensive care for your feet and skin. Make it a daily habit. If the condition worsens, you may have to endure surgical procedures, such as synovectomy and/or joint replacement.

Unfortunately, Rheumatoid arthritis can lead to carpal tunnel syndrome. The disease carpal tunnel syndrome starts in the hands, yet the pain will spread.

In addition to Rheumatoid arthritis, gouty arthritis can cause back pain. Any form of arthritis limits movement, which causes hurt to the joints, cartilages, connective tissues, muscles, bones, etc. Anytime these skeletal and linking elements in the body are interrupted back pain follows. Earache – How to Prevent/Treat Them

Like is a many splendored thing. An earache is not. In fact, on the human misery scale, it ranks right up there with a severe toothache, a throbbing beesting, or a pulsing migraine. They have many causes. They are usually defined by where, on, or in the ear when they occur. A third cause of ear pain, which will be mentioned only briefly now, is “referred”– that is, pain originating from a source condition apart from the ear. Rarely, heartattack pain can be “referred” to the jaw and ear. In another case, chronic strain or inflammation of the T.M.J., or jaw joint, can be felt in the ear. A severe toothache can be referred into the ear, as can inflammation of the parotid salivary gland. Your doctor knows how to separate right pain of the ear from referred pain.

When defining primary ear pain, doctors usually separate the condition into two separate areas:

Conditions present on the external ear or in the ear canal up to the eardrum (otitis externa), and

2.)      Conditions present on the inner side of the eardrum, that is, in the middle ear (otitis media).

Let’s talk first about otitis externa. One can have rashes on the outer ear, which are caused by either inflammation or infection, or both. For instance, wrestlers who wear tight leather helmets which lead to contusions and moist, warm conditions, might end up with a bacterial or fungal infection on the outside of the ear. The same might be right for the chronic use of headphones. An anti-inflammatory or antifungal cream along with a course of antibiotic might be curative.

The other type of otitis externa is that which occurs in the ear canal up to the eardrum. It might be caused by water in the ear from swimming, which is trapped deeper down in the ear canal (“swimmer’s ear”). It could be a large collection of earwax, which holds moisture deep within the external ear, allowing infection.

The usual treatment is instilling antibiotic, and possibly anti-inflammatory drops, into the ear canal at regular intervals. Sometimes if the canal is very swollen, an earwick has to be place in for a few days, or sometimes the collection of earwax has to be carefully removed. Your doctor can advise you whether to use drops after bathing or swimming to prevent future infections of this type, or they may advise you to use earplugs under these circumstances.

Otitis media occurs on the inside of the eardrum. It is the space of the middle ear, where the delicate hearing bones are located as well as the hearing organ itself, the cochlea. Most of the infections of the middle ear are viral, spread there from the back of the nose by way of the Eustachian tube.  Usually, in the majority of cases, the body resolves these viral infections in a few days, but often a bacterial germ then moves in, causing a much more severe and potentially damaging infection. These types of infections can spread into tissue structures about the middle ear and can, in severe cases even cause a form of meningitis. These usually require hospitalization, skillful use of antibiotics, and frequent progress check-ups to be sure they are promptly resolving. We don’t want them to spread, and we don’t want them to burst through the eardrum.

The middle ear is ingeniously connected to the outside air pressures by the Eustachian tubes. This prevents the eardrum from bursting when one dives down in the water or ascends to high altitudes. Unfortunately, infection reaches the middle ear by this passage. In young children, the tube is small and straight, further enhancing the infectious process. When there is inflammation and mucus, sometimes the tubes do not work too well and a “vacuum” is made in the middle ear. This sucks fluid into the middle ear from surrounding tissue, making a fluid filling the middle ear, which interferes with hearing. The fluid can also get secondarily infected. When this happens too often, ear specialists might recommend ventilation tubes to be placed through the eardrums. These stay in place a few months and keep fluid and infection from building in the middle ear, allowing the serous fluid and pus to drain out of the inner ear.

Symptoms of middle ear infection include fullness and pain in the ear, fever, difficulty hearing, restlessness and crying in young children, nausea, and generally not feeling well. Occasionally, the eardrum can rupture releasing pus or bloody fluid from the ear. You don’t want to place any drops in the ear if this is the case. The best plot is to get to your doctor. If there are a few hours before the office opens, take Tylenol or Advil for fever or pain. What your child mostly needs is a thorough ear exam and definitive treatment. Antibiotics are probably in order, sometimes by injection if the child is too sick or cannot take oral medicine. Sometimes, the doctor will order a decongestant to hopefully make the Eustachian tubes work better. Have the regular follow-ups as your doctor recommends until the condition is resolved.

Remember the goals of treatment:  We want to alleviate the pain and suffering of earache, we don’t want the infection to spread to adjacent areas, and we don’t want your child to lose any hearing abilities. In the past, children unfortunately used to suffer quite a bit of deafness and prolonged illness before we had the brilliant treatments we now have available to patients.

Back Pain Enigma

The back pain enigma is a larger than life concern for patients and doctors alike.  Back pain is a huge industry the world over and one of the most profitable types of medical specialty.  The range of dorsopathy care providers is astronomical with traditional, alternative and complementary caregivers helping patients cope with their chronic and often severe pain.  Back pain care generally falls into the category of “physical medicine” which is ironic, since the source of symptoms is rarely physical and the pain rarely requires any type of medicine…

The back pain enigma is a conundrum which has really only become a major issue in healthcare over the past 60 years.  Prior to this, there is small mention of chronic back pain in the medical literature.  But, there were many conditions which time and testing have proven to be less than sound in their diagnostic accuracy.  These conditions ranged from rheumatism to hysteria and were virtually epidemic concerns in their respective times.  Back pain is THE epidemic of today… Just as with most mistaken diagnoses of the past, ongoing and treatment-resistant back pain is usually psychosomatic.  But, the current trend in back care is to treat it as structural, according to the ludicrous Cartesian medical tradition.

The huge problem is the actual word psychosomatic.  Most doctors are not even sure what defines a psychosomatic condition and they certainly have no thought how to treat them if they really come across one in practice.  Patients are often place off by the term, since to them, it may imply that their pain is not real.  This is a matter of simply being uneducated on the real definition of the term.  A psychosomatic condition is 100% real and experienced fully in the body.  The pain is no less than symptoms caused by a verifiable structural source and the only difference is the fact that the pain is produced by a psycho-emotional process, not an anatomical one.

The irony of this all is that the majority of health issues plaguing modern medicine (much like those which have plagued medicine for millennia) are indeed psychosomatic.  This encompasses all the conditions which are so commonly diagnosed, but seldom cured, by ANY medical or complementary care plot including: fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel syndrome, TMJ/TMD, gastrointestinal concerns and headaches.  Medicine has theorized that there are structural issues responsible for all these conditions, yet doctors are unable to cure the problems, even using a battery of seemingly appropriate treatments.  This should be no surprise, since these unenlightened therapies are never going to succeed, as they are targeting the incorrect source of symptom altogether… They are simply aimed at scapegoats which are blamed for the pain mistakenly, rather than the actual and verifiable source which exists in the subconscious mind.  Doctors will virtually always choose to blame a scapegoat issue which can be seen, rather than an emotional concern which can not be detailed using an x-ray, MRI or CT scan.  This is the fatal flaw of modern healthcare and the reason for the epidemic of chronic back pain.

Doctors know that the primary imperative of the body is to heal and heal it will, despite all but the most catastrophic injury and disease.  As a society, we like to credit lasting pain with any even remotely logical connection, regardless of how insignificant or distant it may be.  Personally, I get letters from patients daily which blame their back pain on illogical and innocent reasons such as: opening a stuck window 12 years ago, slipping on ice over 2 decades before and spraining a knee playing soccer over 40 years prior.  It is nonsensical to believe that these issues are responsible for crippling back pain decades later.

Patients write to me occasionally saying something to the effect of…

“You are incorrect.  I saw the herniated disc on the MRI.  It is really there.”

OR

“I really have degenerative disc disease.  I saw the x-rays myself.”

OR

“My arthritis is real.  My doctor proved it to me with some test”.

My answer is universally the same…

“Yes. Of course you saw it.  It is there. But, the structural issue is simply not responsible for you pain. In fact, there is no evidence that degenerative disc disease, herniated discs or spinal osteoarthritis cause any symptoms inherently.  Furthermore, we all have these conditions in our spines.  Most of us do not even know it, since they do not cause symptoms.  Question your doctor.  They have these issues, as well…”
