Brilliant, brilliant strategy. In pursuing alternate/additional ways to deal with this, you are potentially saving yourself from months or years of agony. KUUUDOS to you. Smart, smart girl.
I would recommend seeing either a physical therapist or a DO, which are doctors that have training specifically focused on manual manipulation. Most likely, the very best thing you can do is strengthen different muscles to relive pressure/tension on the areas that are causing you pain. Excellent LUCK, I really hope you figure this out!

You don’t “get rid” of lower back pain, you control it. Going to a pain clinic, like I do, they evaluate your pain and the drugs your on, to see what you can tolerate and what will help to the minimum.
First I got epidural shots that didn’t work, the hurt was to fantastic. Then it was a combination of drugs until they found one I could tolerate.
You shouldn’t have to “pop pain killers” only take a necessary amount of drugs to control the pain.
By the way, I’ve been on them for 14 years now with severe hurt to my lower spine. I take oxycontin in a very mild form but, it works, so, if it works do it.
There are also various other means like a pain pump, stimulator but, you have to be evaluated to see what works for you.

Question you pain doctor about epidural pain injections. Worked for me.

Have you had a thorough evaluation by your family Chiropractor?
    Best wishes and excellent luck.
